OU RB Anderson avoids sex assault charge

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) An Oklahoma prosecutor decided against charging Sooners running back Rodney Anderson with sexual assault on Thursday, clearing a major cloud hanging over the team ahead of its College Football Playoff semifinal against Georgia.

"Definitely, charges are not warranted under these circumstances," Cleveland County District Attorney Greg Mashburn said during a news conference.

The accusation stemmed from a petition for a protective order in which a woman said Anderson assaulted her in her apartment last month and that she feared for her safety. Anderson had gone to her home after the two met during a night of drinking.

Frost wins Robinson coach of the year

DALLAS (AP) Scott Frost, who led Central Florida to a perfect regular season before taking the Nebraska job, has won the Eddie Robinson Award as the national coach of the year.

The Football Writers Association of America and the Sugar Bowl announced the winner Thursday. In his second season at UCF, Frost guided the Knights to a 12-0 record, the American Athletic Conference championship and a Peach Bowl bid.

UGA LB Patrick gets drug charge dropped

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) A marijuana possession charge against Georgia starting inside linebacker Natrez Patrick was dismissed Thursday, apparently clearing the way for him to play in the Rose Bowl semifinal game.

Coach Kirby Smart has not commented on Patrick's status for the Jan. 1 contest against Oklahoma.

Oregon RB Freeman out for Las Vegas Bowl

LAS VEGAS (AP) Oregon senior running back Royce Freeman won't play in the Las Vegas Bowl against Boise State on Saturday.

New Oregon coach Mario Cristobal announced the decision Thursday.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) Injured West Virginia quarterback Will Grier says he'll return for his senior season in 2018.

The Mountaineers announced Grier's intentions in a statement Thursday.

Colorado State extends Bobo through 2022

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) Colorado State extended the contract of football coach Mike Bobo through the 2022 season after another year ended with a bowl appearance.

Bobo has led the Rams to a bowl game in each of his three seasons, including the New Mexico Bowl against Marshall on Saturday.

FSU prez discusses facilities, Fisher

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) Florida State President John Thrasher believes his football facilities compare favorably to any in the country, and there is still some bad blood between he and Jimbo Fisher.

When Fisher jetted out of Tallahassee to take the Texas A&M job, he fired some stinging parting shots, painting a picture of Seminole program in dire need of facility upgrades.

DiNucci latest Pitt QB to transfer

PITTSBURGH (AP) Pittsburgh sophomore quarterback Ben DiNucci is transferring.

DiNucci announced his decision Thursday, two days after third-string sophomore quarterback Thomas MacVittie said he also was leaving the program. While MacVittie played on special teams this season but never took a snap under center, DiNucci appeared in 10 games this season, including six starts.

Oregon State WR Collins granted release

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) Wide receiver Seth Collins has been granted his release from the Oregon State Beavers.

Collins, a junior, played in just three games last season because of illness and injuries. He finished with 12 catches for 130 yards and one touchdown.

West Virginia RB Crawford to skip bowl

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) West Virginia running back Justin Crawford will skip the Mountaineers' bowl game to focus on preparing for the 2018 NFL Draft.

West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen made the announcement Thursday night in a statement.
