Cueto had the option to opt out of his contract that runs through 2021, but the team said Sunday the right-hander had decided to remain with the Giants.
Analysis: Cueto was hampered by injuries this season, going 8-8 with a 4.52 ERA in 25 starts. Manager Bruce Bochy and general manager Bobby Evans both had been optimistic that Cueto would stick around. Cueto had the choice to leave after the second year of his $130 million, six-year contract he signed before the 2016 season.

Cueto struck out two, ending the game with a 4.52 ERA and 1.45 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: The 31-year-old right-hander indicated he likely won't opt out of the $130 million, six-year contract he signed before the 2016 season and become a free agent - but he left himself some wiggle room. ''I don't know, maybe, I mean I'm sure I will,'' come back next year, Cueto said through a translator. Cueto qualified his remark, saying any decision would have to go through his agent, but he expects to make his return official soon.

Cueto struck out six, ending the game with a 4.49 ERA and 1.42 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Cueto was in line for a victory after exiting with a 3-2 lead the Giants' bullpen couldn't hold. He still delivered his longest outing in four starts since returning from an extended absence caused by a blister issue, and his health doesn't appear to be an issue going forward. The two-time All-Star does draw a tough matchup next time out, as he's slated to face the Diamondbacks in Arizona on Monday.

Cueto struck out two, ending the game with a 4.51 ERA and 1.37 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Cueto is walking people at an alarming rate (3.06 per nine innings) and giving up homers at an even more ridiculous rate (a career-high 1.53 per nine). That all adds up to a really bad first half.

Analysis: Cueto, who has both Giants wins this season, snapped his two-game skid at Petco Park. He was the loser in the All-Star Game on July 12 after allowing home runs by Eric Hosmer and Salvador Perez, and then lost to the Padres five days later. Analysis: That's not exactly the start the Giants were looking for from Cueto, who went 13-1 with a 2.47 ERA prior to the All-Star break last season.
|Mar. 3 3:51 PM PT4:51 PM MT5:51 PM CT6:51 PM ET18:51 ET23:51 GMT7:51 4:51 PM MST6:51 PM EST7:21 PM VEN3:51 UAE (+1)5:51 PM CT-Cueto is finally scheduled to arrive at San Francisco Giants camp on Friday, and the Dominican right-hander will likely not pitch in the World Baseball Classic - at least in the first round.
Analysis: Cueto's father has been ill, so the pitcher wanted to bring him to the U.S. from the Dominican Republic. That delayed his arrival by a couple weeks so that a visa could be obtained for his father.
